50's The Lawrence Welk Television Show began as a summer replacement in July, 1955. By the end of the decade, it was a hit! 60's In the 60's "color" took the show to a whole new level. The Musical Family continued to grow bringing new talent, new fans that fostered a lifelong association. 70's When ABC-TV cancelled the Welk Show in 1971, no one was ready to quit! Without missing a beat, the show moved into syndication and Lawrence continued to hire new talent. 80's The last Lawrence Welk Television Show was taped on February 24, 1982. The legacy continues today on Public Television. |
